For this conceptual evening wear ensemble created for the Go Red for Women foundation. The juxtaposition between women in power in historical context v. cinematic depictions is explored. From Greek goddess', to unsuccessful queens such as Mary Queen of Scots and Marie Antoinette, to successful queens such as Cleopatra and Elizabeth I. These rulers are compared to Disney's "evil queen" mantra, and the stereotypical 'damsel in distress'. Silhouette inspiration is pulled from the cinematic recreations of Disney classics 'Cinderella' and 'Beauty and the Beast' as well as 17th century Baroque fashion, and Paolo Sebastians 2018 spring/summer collection inspired by the essence of Disney. Adorned in satin upholstery and silk organza this off-the-shoulder sweetheart-neckline ballgown with lace up back is accompanied by a tulle hoop-skirt.
