'Picnic in Yosemite' is a conceptual two look children's wear collection inspired by the earthy tones, organic shapes, and bold prints found within Yosemite National Park California. It's campy and playful pulling silhouette inspiration from 1840s children's dresses, Mark Twains 'Huckleberry Finn', and painting's by Norman Rockwell. This collection captures the essence of being young, and adventurous.
Look one was created for a size three boy. Consisting of a faux suede vest with brass button details, and embroidered 'seek adventure' patch. Denim-like chambray button up shirt, with convertible collar, oversized wooden buttons, corduroy elbow patches and asymmetrical hem. Corduroy pants, with all over patchwork and elastic waist. Each detail plays to the idea of being a kid. Unable to properly button ones shirt, romping around outside requiring reinforced elbows, and patched up trousers.
Look two was created for a size six girl. Consisting of cotton gingham and sunflower prints in a three tier layered ruffle skirt, elastic off-the-shoulder sleeves, and accent red satin ribbon straps. This dress is a campy re-imagination of the ideal picnicking attire.
